according to specific gravity.
Separation of particles originating from the same
screen fraction according to thickness.
Examples:
Dedusting of plastic granules down to a residual dust
content of 0,01%.

Alpine 25 MZ Impact Mill |
This small,
powerful hammer mill is effective for fine and coarse grinding, pre-crushing,
disintegrating and fiberizing. The Alpine® 25 MZ Impact Mill has a
grinding chamber design with a baffle-ribbed grinding track integrated into the
cast housing. The resulting advantages are improved fineness and a longer
screen life as much of the size reduction is shifted from the screen to the
grinding track. Applications include chemicals, food, minerals and earths. The
Alpine® 25 MZ Impact Mill is suitable for small scale production.

Alpine® 50 AS Spiral Jet Mill is ideally designed for laboratory
applications, and the processing of small batches of material. This jet mill can
be utilized for ultra fine size reduction of dry materials with a crystalline
structure up to Mohs hardness of three and production of a powder with a high
ultra fine portion between 0.5 and 30µm.
The design permits
ease and thoroughness of cleaning. After being dismantled into its component
parts, the Alpine® 50 AS Spiral Jet Mill can be dry cleaned in an
ultrasound bath or autoclave. This compact and portable
design meets the
highest |
|
pharmaceutical standards, and is ideal for operation in an isolation
containment device. The Alpine®
50 AS Spiral Jet Mill is optimized for applications in high-grade
pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. Consisting largely of a one piece mono-block
construction, this mill has a minimum number of components, a surface finish of
Ra=<0.08µm and an individual component weight of less than 5 kg, making it ideal

| The Alpine®
50 ZPS is designed as a classifier mill. Due to the high precision
of cut of this classifier, it reliably produces end products with an
extremely sharp topsize limitation.
|
 |
The Alpine®
50 ZPS Circoplex classifier mill is also available as a system in
its own right purely for impact milling. This is an
interesting and cost-favorable alternative wherever jet milling for
hard materials and ultrafine classifying is not needed. The Alpine®
50 ZPS offers impressive advantages for complicated problem specifications such
as production of fine powders below 20 µ and processing of difficult materials. |

The
Alpine® 100 AFG Jet Mill offers innovation
technology in jet milling with internal classification. Designed as a compact
system, this jet mill can be used for materials which are heat sensitive and
with Moh’s hardness up to 10.
|
 |
Its internal classifier wheel maintains a tight
particle size distribution, thus ensuring product quality. Several
modifications of the basic unit are available including Clean-In-Place (CIP)
and/or Sterilize-In-Place (SIP) systems, as well as those designed for complete
product and explosion containment. The low noise emission (less than 85 Db
(A)), and lower overall energy consumption make the Alpine®100
AFG Jet Mill ideal for lab and pilot plant environments.

The
production of fine powders is becoming more and more complex because of the
increasing demands made on the end product. These demands, for a great number
of products, have led to an extension of the grinding process to include air
classification.
As a result, the ultrafine classification of powder materials
is becoming a key issue. With the Alpine® 50 ATP Turboplex
Classifier, a sharply separating classifier with an extremely wide, steplessly
adjustable separation range is available for a multitude of tasks. The
separation range is between a d97 of approximately 2 and 120 microns.
|
 |
In contrast to
conventional air classifiers, the classifying wheel axis of the ATP runs
horizontally, not vertically. This design feature improves wear resistance when
processing highly abrasive materials, and helps to reduce the risk of deposit
formation with sticky materials.

Micron 5 liter Mixer
|
The
Vrieco-Nauta™ Mini Mix features exchangeable containers, easy cleaning, variable
speeds and reliable scale-up data. For testing and experimental purposes, small
batches of product can be produced in this small mixer. The results of these
tests can be used for scaling up to larger mixer sizes. The Vrieco-Nauta™ Mini
Mix is constructed of stainless steel AISI 316L and is internally and externally
polished to Ra=1.45 µm. It has a screw speed of 120-300 rpm; and an arm speed
of 4-10 rpm.

Micron Cyclomix
|
The
Vrieco-Nauta™ Cyclomix 5 is a compact 5-liter high shear impact mixer that
requires short cycle time. A vessel jacket offers exceptional heating and
cooling capabilities. The design permits the total process in one mixer and
prevents material fusion and or agglomerates.
Application areas are the intensive mixing
of cohesive, moistening, coating, granulation and drying of powders. The mixer
is also capable of mixing slurries.

Schugi Extrudomix
|
The
EM-2 can form 0.5-6.0mm diameter extrusions or continuously mix pasty materials
from 20,000 to 2x106 centipoise. With as little as 1-3 kg of powder
feed required for feasibility studies and a typical capacity range of 9-28 kg/hr,
the EM-2 is particularly appropriate for studies with minimal quantities of
short supply and/or high value materials.
Similar to the production sized Extrudomix
range, the EM-2 is an efficient low pressure extruder that generates uniform
free-flowing and/or dustless pellets. It will accept plastic masses or generate
its own with continuous internal mixing of solids and binder prior to extrusion.
|
|
|
In contrast to higher pressure systems, the entire
Extrudomix range including the EM-2 offers lower investment and operating costs,
while having a greater particle dispersibility range. For extra
versatility, the EM-2 is of modular construction meaning that sections can be
added or taken away from the body shaft depending upon the process requirements.
Integrated powder metering is standard, while
instrumentation includes temperature profile, multiple point pressure monitoring
and power consumption gauge, integrated with touch screen control and data
logging options. The mixer is an easy to disassemble design including
interchangeable rotors and orifice plates. All of these components are
mounted on a mobile stand that only requires a single connection to supply
power.
The method of operation is by a single horizontal shaft,
carrying rows of hammers arranged in a spiral pattern which move the material
through the chamber. Stationary anvils attached to
the housing are inserted between the rotating hammers.
Material is fed into the housing at one end and forced
forward by the rotating hammers until it comes in contact with the stationary
anvil. As the hammer passes the anvil, a portion of the material is moved
forward, and the remainder lags behind. The action of the anvils prevents the
material from rotating with the shaft. The effect, therefore, is to give a
continuous kneading, mulling, and mixing action on materials ranging from light
medium stiff pastes to heavy plastic-like doughs and putty.
Various orifice plates and extrusion dies may be installed
within the barrel and the discharge end of the unit to vary the mixing action.
Dies of various shapes and sizes can be used to extrude material into various
shapes and sizes.
Complete containment and dust control systems can also be
incorporated as part of Hosokawa’s turnkey project management. With the addition
of the EM-2 to the Extrudomix range, we can provide Extrudomix technology in
shaft sizes from 50mm up to 600mm.
